School History

Southern Middle School, built in 1966 in south Lexington, has one of the tightest geographical boundary in the district, making it a true neighborhood school. The neighborhood atmosphere unites the staff members, parents and students into one family – a true coalition that works together to ensure success for our students. Our Southern Middle family is made even stronger through the work that our active and award-winning PTSA does for our students and staff.
